Carpe Diem: 2016.07.08 SURPRISE! SURPRISE! TROUBLE IN BIG D

big D

In the last months of its ridiculous never-ending political season America’s insanities are beginning to tumble over one another, scrambling the mythologized and deluded minds of its nearly fully-armed citizenry whipped into a frenzy of anger and blame assignment for its self-created social and economic malaise.

Today, the brothel we used to refer to as the national media (“the fourth estate”) was having an orgasm over the latest ratings erectile drug, the killing of five policemen in Big D (where open carry of rifles is legal) at the end of as Black Lives Matter demonstration over the police killings of two black men in different cities in the previous 48 hours.

Surprise! Surprise! Somebody actually stopped praying and decided to take some ”payback” for the police murders of how many(?) Black men, women and children in recent years in which every cop has walked away unindicted or exculpated by America’s racist justice(?) system. Meanwhile, pushed off the front page were the hearings the House Republicans held to try to get Hillary indicted for email treason or some such bullshit. [Indulge a slight digression tangent here: Clinton has endured blame over hundreds of hours and tens of millions that have been spent over Benghazi, where four Americans were killed. This is not trivial—but over the same period how many(?) Black men, women and children have been killed by police and nary a single Congressional hearing on the subject. Surprise! Surprise!]

Almost risible is to listen to NPR reporters going on about how the Dallas police were doing their ”dangerous duty” [this is where you may guffaw] “protecting” the Black Lives Matter marchers—excuse me, are they there even protecting them from Trump’s white supremacists; they are protecting the property along the demonstration route from possible rioting and looting (remember how cops shot Black looters like ducks in a barrel in New Orleans during Katrina?)

So here we go again with our national violent sport that is a stew of unresolved racism and sectional differences, xenophobia, religious prejudice, political corruption and economic disparity, all wrapped into a mythology that we really are, were, or can be made again, a “great country.” Surprise! Surprise! We ain’t, never were, and never will be a “great country.” Frankly, we suck.

Americans reap what they sow– with abstinence at the polls, lack of curiosity on vital issues and governance, and a spirited embrace of ignorance. We all suffer the results.

And,regrettably,we are not near finished reaping.
