Carpe Diem: 2019.06.09 EXTRA-EXTRADITION

by James A. Clapp

As the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China continues its boa constrictor-like suffocating of the human rights and liberties of the people of Hong Kong, its latest authoritarian gimmick—a proposed extradition law that would allow it to snatch anyone acting offensively toward Big Brother and “repatriate” them to some remote gulag “re-education” camp—appears ready to be forced down the throats of Hongkongers by a compliant Chief Executive and a rigged legislative body.  With an amazing sense of timing the location chosen for this came upon the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989, sufficient to add to the fervor of democracy-seeking Hongkongers to come out in a force of protest that might well have numbered closed to a half million, and bringing out a full complement of Hong Kong Police who seem resigned too accepting that their –baos stuffed by the big boys in Beijing. What started out as a peaceful protest has now turned violent. So, expect the following headline in the SCMP:

Hong Kong’s Rigged Government Quickly Passes Extradition Law so that 500K Protesters Immediately Extradited to PR China, which Doesn’t Know What the Cào To Do with Them

It is a bad show…i have a sinking feeling that things in the world are unraveling. But I have always been a “half empty glass” type of guy.
