Carpe Diem: 2017.04.12 WHAT MAKES AMERICA SO GREAT?

Ever wonder? I do. Is it the Christo-fascism? The racism? The rapacious capitalistic greed? The militarism? Take your pick. Or, all of the above. They have all been with us for awhile; so I like to get some daily confirmation that these wonderful American virtues are secure in their “greatness.” Carpe Diem, I offer these three.

United Airlines. Their skies might be friendly, but inside the cabin they will bust you up if you don’t give up your seat to a preferred customer. This is great American corporate customer service. And, after they have gotten then local (Chicago) gendarmes to drag you out of your narrow seat and down the filthy aisle, they turn their legal sharks and PR flacks lose to smear you with the blame. I am so glad I cut up my MileagePlus card.

Golfing at Mar-a-Lago. Trumpident’s greens fees for the 18 or so times he has golfed since taking office with the pledge that he would stay at the White House and “work my ass off” for the people amounts to $3,000,000 a time. At the same time “stay away from Mr. Gropey hands” wife Melania costs us taxpayers $146,000/day for her extra security to remain at Trump Tower. This, while the Prez has cut the umbrella program for Meals-on-Wheels for the needy, and the water is still deadly in Flint.

Brian Williams, the faux journalist who, always looks like he is practicing trying to be Edward R. Murrow, but sounding like the pretentious ass that he really is, waxed poetically: “We see these beautiful pictures at night from the decks of these two U.S. Navy vessels in the eastern Mediterranean. I am tempted to quote the great Leonard Cohen.” “I’m guided by the beauty of our weapons”. This is the same “heroic” Mr. Douchebag who fabricated a story about being on a helicopter fired upon in Iraq. Just what we needed, another liar doing the news.

Go USA! You’re doing just great, America.
