FOREVER SUZIE

It’s always a pleasant surprise to discover a mention or a new review—especially if it is positive—of one’s book. Recently, a reader of mine sent me link from the South China Morning Post that featured a retrospective article on the movie The World of Suzie Wong, the film that inspired my 2008 book For Goodness Sake: A Novel of the Afterlife of Suzie Wong. I was especially pleased that the article included a link to the lengthy review the SCMP had published when my novel was released. And, I discovered in it a link to another SCMP review I had never seen (below).

The Suzie Wong story, originally by Richard Mason in his 1957 novel, is in my view iconic to Hong Kong, a classic that stays with you, as I hope my novel will benefit from.
